SAFER: launching in London on July 9
A new CMP campaign to make adaptation to climate impacts a national priority: practical, funded, and community-led.
The climate crisis is entering a new phase. As crazy weather becomes more common, life supporting systems come under increasing strain, with UK communities exposed to multiple threats. Adaptation is no longer optional. It is a partner and a catalyst to decarbonisation and nature regeneration - a way that people can take effective climate action by addressing immediate, visible challenges while strengthening our communities.
Improving food and energy security, reducing fire, flood and heat related risks, and deepening bonds of trust and mutual care are all part of this vision.

Why SAFER - and why now?
SAFER is a response to deep vulnerabilities in the UK’s systems and infrastructure - highlighted by COVID-19, worsened by systemic denial and underfunding of vital services.
As temperatures continue to break records, with little sign of emissions slowing, the UK is far from prepared for the climate chaos that is approaching. Reducing risks means taking action before emergencies occur. Locally and nationally, we need a preparatory mindset - focused on anticipating climate damage and cascading effects, rather than reacting when it’s too late. We need far-sighted, ecologically sound adaptation strategies that don’t cause more harm than they prevent. This means real investment in the deeper resilience of our communities, taking cultures of care seriously as we reckon with the trouble we’re in.
Walking on the precipice.
Join us in calling for:
A funded national plan for strategic adaptation and resilience
A mindset shift in the climate movement, recognising adaptation as a gateway to majority action
A culture of adaptation that normalises protective measures in businesses and government
Communities of care - where trust, preparedness and mutual aid are the foundations of resilience.
This launch coincides with the Climate Coalition Mass Lobby. We recommend guests make their way there before SAFER launch to speak to their MPs about the urgent need for strategic climate adaptation.Help build a resilient future: reserve your place today.
